Wk 11 – Artist Conversation – 5620 (Kruse & Pena)

It is always nice to see more than one artist collaborating with each other and meshing their art together and creating one whole art gallery. I really enjoyed visiting the Merlino Gallery. When I walked in, I saw a whole bunch of sculptures, drawings, and spray painting. There was a lot to look at and I enjoyed looking at every piece that they had made. Kruse had explained that this gallery was many different pieces all coming and blending together. Kruse and Pena wanted to create different yet similar pieces and make it into one whole piece for this gallery.

Kruse loves drawing and sculpting. Actually, he didn’t start off school as an art major. He started off as undeclared and didn’t know what to do. Eventually he really discovered his love for art and got his BFA in Printmaking. Pena, on the other hand, knew he wanted to major in Art so he did just that. He loves drawing and painting. They got together a little over a year ago. They realized how similar their perspective in art was and decided to work together and create pieces of art together that would balance the other guy’s artwork out. They like to do 2D, 3D, and Intro Drawing art and resembled them into this gallery. Apparently it only took them about 15 hours to complete the whole gallery, which I think is unbelievable. I wish I could’ve taken some drawings home because they were so good. I wish them the best of luck and great success from this point on!
